Teen bashed with metal pole
A teenage boy has been bashed over the head in a fight involving a group of youths in Beulah Hill this morning.
Police were called to reports of a large disturbance about 8.25am.
They found the boy, a 16-year-old pupil from St Joseph's College, suffering from a head injury, believed to be the result of being hit with a metal pole.
Police closed the busy road for more than two hours and the victim, thought to be called Jermaine, was bleeding badly from his head at the side of the road.
It is understood that the incident happened after pupils from St Joseph's and Harris Academy were fighting in the street.
An onlooker said: "St Joseph's closed all the school gates and wouldn't let any of their pupils out to help the boy. It looked really serious."
The victim was been taken to a south London hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
"At this stage we believe there was some sort of fight or argument involving a number of male youths," a Met Police spokesman said.
She added: "We are not aware of any other injured parties at this time."
There have been no arrests so far and inquiries are continuing.
