Woke on Friday to find a note pushed thru my door from my neighbour to tell me that someone had just dumped a load of rubbish in my drive at the back of my property. This is a regualar occurrence as my drive is in a secluded area & is no t directly in front of my property. However I was not prepared for the sight that greeted me as I approached my drive. I didnt know whether to laugh or cry or plant a flag at the top of the pile & claim as my land.
A tipper truck had basically reversed up my drive & let rip ! I would say about several tonnes of crap !
Now the good bit. I phoned up Croydon regards this fly tipping & was told to my astonishment it was nothing to do with them as the pile of debris was on private land ! I was also informed that if I managed to hire a bulldozer & pushed this into the road I would be charged with flytipping myself
Basically Croydon stance is that if you can offload your tat onto someones else property without being caught it ceases to be your problem !
After ranting & raving for a while I decided to phone the local community police who I must say turned up immediately & was happy that this was not my own rubbish & was dumped illegally, they told me that they had a specail agreement with the local authority especially for cases like this .
The rubbish was cleared several hours later. So no more knocking the local community police for at least a few days at least.
The best news is that whilst clearing up the last bits of debris I discovered an invoice with a name & local address which was collected by the local community police the same day.
I hope the scally get his just dessert. I have also retained the address for good measure !

Unbelievable. At least you found a solution, not that you should have needed to of course.
Not intending to sound like I'm speaking in the tippers' defence but if your drive is not quite with your house, is there a chance it looks like a public space? We get all sorts of rubbish dumped in a bit of public scrub next to our house. We also get the lovely people in a house across the road from the back of us dumping their normal household waste by our fence. Why take it away yourself or wait for dustbin day when you can lob it over the road into the bushes outside someone else's property?

We had flytipping problems in Ryefield Road - the first two loads (broken pallets, concrete - small loads - about a car-sized pile) got cleared quite soon - but only after 4 people phoned the council. The 3rd load (smelly fish boxes & butcher's scales) took a little longer (4 days, and 4 people calling the council daily). The final load blocked the whole road - & was removed the same day...
Dazza - seems our problem moved on to you... sorry.

you should do what I do. I pick it all up put it in the motor then dump it elsewhere. I've found a really good place on a secluded driveway at the back of someones garage. Simple!
