I've been rather quiet on the boards recently, but all for good reason. We've been looking to move out of Croydon Borough and into Bromley and we're finally under offer and have also found a house.... in Beckenham. Why? Well, the fact there are lots of houses and good schools was one reason, but mainly because of my daughter's speech disorder (verbal dyspraxia) is going to need some intensive work over the next few years, and Bromley are better placed to help with that than Croydon.

All this had led us to look to move out of my beloved Crystal Palace. But because I didn't want to go too far, we've ended up in an area served by the 227 and 358 buses back to the Triangle any time we should so choose.

The house sale is in it's very early stages, but my plan is to keep modding as Mrs Elmo works locally and we have so many friends in the area. Plus we'll be back as often as possible. Probably every week at least.

Just wanted to let you all know... You'll probably won't even notice the change! :D :D

Sounds like a smart move Elmo, hope you and the family will be very happy and glad to hear you'll still be a virtual Norwooder.

Wow, big plunge! Congrats on facing up to a big transition!

Its a relief to all of us that you will stay connected with VN and CP. We need you here!

Will your new locus mean that I might run in to you more often on the train through Penge East?

Hi Elmo, you'll always be in the Palace at heart. Just down the road - 10 minutes on the bike (OK 15 up the hill, 5 down, it's an average).

All the best with the move,

andreas

We've moved! House is a mess of boxes, but it's great to have more space and a garden. Disappointing that the vendors left the place needing a clean, but hey... Can't have it all.

Will be back up the hill soon no doubt.

Congratulations Elmod - how exciting for you all! Great to be installed in plenty of time before Christmas.

Don't forget Parkinson's Law for bigger houses! ;)

Good luck in your new home Elmo (and with cleaning the oven - they always leave that mucky). When you're fed up with cleaning and opening boxes, make sure you enjoy a walk in Kelsey Park in this lovely autumn weather :)

Top Tip: wrap any of those unpacked boxes and pop under tree - utilizes storage space and makes great festive props.

Thanks all. We've actially paid 70 to get the oven and hob professionally cleaned. It was truly filthy and the guys said it was the worst domestic oven they'd ever seen. Nice.

Other than that we're getting on pretty well. Just wondering what order to do the work in... Mini-Elmo's room probably. Then I'm getting a king size bed!!

So how is Elmod's End shaping up? While passing through yesterday, I was struck by the number of eating places around the west end of Eden Park Avenue and along to the King and I in Upper Elmers End Road - a Thai restaurant lovingly created in the downstairs of an interwar semi.

Are any of the restaurants any good? And are there any decent pubs?

Congratulations on the news about mini-Elmo 2 being on the way!
