Oyster wiped?

I tried to use my Oyster on a bus yesterday but failed and had to stump up the cash fare - even though I should have had just under 10 on the pay as you go tarrif :(

I checked my card online later and found that I had a zero balance, not only that but all my journey history had been wiped. I will ring Oyster later but has anyone had this happen to them?
