This really is a great community project and its worth having a look at what you do again.

How did you get on with the Natwest Community Force fund davidpuppet? I received an email today - Had a quick peek but couldn't see you whether you had been successful.

Not very well I'm afraid. Lots of projects hundreds of votes ahead! Thanks to all who voted though. Stocks of some items are low, but we seem to get a fair amount of food contributions. Supermarket collection day on 10th Dec, Sainsbury Streatham. would be good if we get some contributions this Sunday also during west norwood feast!

Many thanks, although I am only a volunteer! We hope that some of those 'denizens' visiting norwood feast on Sunday may bring contributions with them! http://www.norwoodfoodbank.org.uk

I have got some clothes / shoes in good condition and can throw in some foods however, the opening times Tues/Fri 10-2pm are no good for me as I am working. Is there a way to drop things off perhaps on a Saturday?

Am sure something can be arranged. There is wedding this sat' at 2pm. So between 1pm & 3pm should be okay. Otherwise Church office usually open tue-fri 9am-3pm. mon 9am-10am before parent/toddler group, and Sunday Church usually open from 9.30am. Service at 10.30. Otherwise could you phone/e-mail Church office, or contact norwood foodbank via e-mail? If this Sat ok, you can call/txt me on 07752836491 thanks!

Davidpuppet, I wonder if you know that The Co-operative stores (the Co-op, to you and me) has committed to having food bins in its stores to allow shoppers to donate 'at source', in an alliance with local food banks? I discovered this copy-editing its annual report! The five stores specifically identified are in Portsmouth and there is mention on its website of a similar scheme in Cardiff. They also gave the latter a grant of £5,000! I see there are two branches on Norwood Road and one in South Norwood, local to us. Call 0800 023 4708 (9am–8pm, Monday–Friday and 10am–4pm on Saturdays). And, if the Co-Op agrees to a bin, perhaps the other supermarkets, keen to up their community credentials, would follow suit? :)

Someone was singing the Norwood Foodbank's praises this morning on an LBC phone-in, and Liz and Betty (I think) got a particular mention! The caller had been made redundant and had fallen on hard times, but the Foodbank had really supported her. :)
