So we are agreed ? Not a town. Just a mere quin borough settlement of south central London. Not that I'll be part of that soon.

Mrs.Lloyd-"Where are you off to,darling"
Mr.Lloyd-"Thought I might nip up to the town, catch a drink in one of the locals"

Somehow, nipping up to the suburb just doesn't cut it from a cultural use of parlance.
Likes rock and roll, country and western and hip and hop

People complaining about how dark it is because the clocks have gone back.

Yesterday it was almost dark at 6 pm, now its dark at just gone 5 pm. What's the big deal?

At least there's a few weeks ahead with less groping around in the mornings.

If you don't like long winter nights then go and move to the Equator. But don't blame the clocks going back.
opposed to taking terrapins.

The fact that as I get older the use by dates on bottles etc. are so much harder to a.) find and b.) read. Why do they print the date in patchy dark print onto dark surfaces - flipping illogical and flipping irritating Posted Image

Upselling in the post office. You go in for stamps, they offer you home insurance and a new credit card.

Tell me about it! I had a monumental scare a week before going on my recent hols - I couldn't find my passport!!! Posted Image

I rang up the Passport Office after studying the website and learning that I could get one within a week for around £100 - apparently you can't just turn up at Passport Office any more. I rang and explained that I needed an urgent appnt as I was travelling in 8 days. I was told I could get an appnt in London PO [yippee], but not for 7 DAYS (flipping curses!). I was then told I could have an appnt the following day in Liverpool. LIVERPOOL!! I calculated the whole thing plus train travel to and from the 'pool would cost me more than my holiday.

That evening I turned my flat upside down several times and finally found the little X?!$Z# at just gone 2 am.

Thought of another one - forgetting where I have put things as I approach my dotage!

Some schoolkids on buses. Generally (or on the buses I seem to get on) pushing, shoving, shrieking, abusive (particularly to bus drivers) and chomping on stinky chicken and chips - shortly followed by chucking chicken bones and fast food boxes on the floor of the bus as they exit. Offensive and @%!X!*! irritating!
