Dubious fame! Two local mentions in the book Sh*t London: a hand-scrawled sign requesting 'Please do not drive on drive' and the officially titled Sydenham 'Naborhood Centre', plus this, found online: http://shitlondon.co...=crystal palace :o

(Rapidly) approaching my half century mark and constantly being asked by pepes 'how do you feel about turning 50?' as if expecting me to be miserable about the event and consigned to life's scrap heap. It's just a birthday - I will feel the same the day afterwards as the day before! (albeit probably somewhat hungover).

My Dad tells me being 30 is the worst. You're out of your 20s, and you now have no excuse whatsoever for not growing up. 40, 50 and beyond, they're just numbers that can be divided by the number of digits you have on your hands.

Mind you, I still haven't grown up, despite having two, count them, two suits.

P.S. I too, am approaching 50...

I make mixes, some of which are quite good. My wife and I cook things too.

Growing old is inevitable (or at least much preferable to the alternative) - growing up is definitely optional. I very much remember my grandmother, age 87, claiming to still feel like a giddy 17-year-old on the inside. Definitely the way to go!

Hahahaha, yep, I remember my Gramps, also at 82, saying pretty much the same thing. Weirdly, a photo of him at age 17 surfaced recently, and he looked exactly - and I mean exactly - like me at age 17!

so many people go into places like Jessops - well did - and see what they like - get to view, get info, get to handle - then go and find it cheaper on the net and buy there - so am not surprised places with overheads of shop running costs including staff, rent, rates security, insurance etc struggle to survive
