I keep meaning to bring this up having heard some stats on the radio a couple of weeks or so ago, but apparently 8 out of 10 (or something similar) pepes in London don't know their neighbours.

I have to say this really surprised me.

Wherever I have lived I have got to know my neighbours relatively quickly. I am no curtain twitcher but I certainly know all of the neighbours in the block of flats I live in (8 flats) - and by know I mean I know their names/jobs/general lifestyle etc, even if I don't socialise with all of them. I even get on well with the vast majority (!)

Am I unusual? (don't answer that Dazza/SLR/Charlie/CitM! )

If it looks like a curtain twitcher, sounds like a curtain twitcher, and talks like a curtain twitcher, then it probably is.

Here's SL (and friend) checking out next door's garden:

She's even got her cats at it:

Very special  .

We knew everyone in our little commune of 12 residences and know a fair few of our neighbours along Campaign Way!

Echo? never
Echo? never
Echo? never

One of our neighbours sends up her three cats to spy on us. Sometimes I send a little message back in their collars. It beats pigeon post.

I know most of my neighbours on my street. In my first year in Palace I met more people than in eight years in ever so trendy Notting Hill.
Saying that, the bloke who lives on the top floor is a complete c(ough!!)

I only know some of the people in my block, and just to say hello to. The guy in the flat opposite I know better, and get on well with, but then he started smoking and making my flat stink so relations are now "strained"!

I somehow just knew that you'd know all your neighbours. Glad I dont live near you SL or I'd treat you like my neighbour (who incidentally is a really nice fella). I normally like to leave my house at 8.10, however so does he. I now leave at 8.11. Not being rude, I just dont like to talk about the weather/kids/holidays at such an ungodly hour.

Ah..... but SLR, that is a different subject entirely! I am not a morning person and only really become sociable after about 10am. My heart sinks when I bump into bright as a button, bright eyed and bushy tailed acquaintances on the way to work, I am just not ready for all that nonsense...

Well I've even been known to do a lap of the block when seeing any of my neighbours having the temerity of being outside their abode when I come home of an evening.

Merry Christmas!
