Ah Dazza . . . . I think you are projecting old boy. Never had you down as a Nolanite, but I guess that as you are a big softie I should't be surprised :D

Difficult to choose just eight. And being on a desert island is a very specific situation. You'd want some music to dance madly to, some to comfort and some to prepare you for a protracted and lonely death. Here's some off the top of my head.

Forever young - Bob Dylan
Rosalita - Bruce Springsteen
A Monteverdi madrigal - not sure which
Dark Eyed Sailor - Steeleye Span
Brimful of Asha - Cornershop
When you were young - The Killers

Mutineer - Warren Zevon
The Protecting Veil - John Tavener

Goodness that's cheery. If this topic is going to descend into that abyss of gloom then I'd also like to add';
'I eat cannibals' by Toto Coelo (80s one hit wonder)

You can certainly have more than 8 tracks.
I have to say there are some of my faves in this bunch too - re Simon and Garfunkel. And how could I forget Wuthering Heights by Kate Bush - that's a top three for me so that was a big omission!

On the classical front I used to play for the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland (och aye get me) and the one piece that gets me every time is the Firebird by Stravinsky.

So if there was a track that summed up Crystal Palace...what would it be?

am impressed with Isao Tomita being on SLs list - Snowflakes are Dancing fave lp in the house when I was growing up - Debussy-tastic

Rock around the clock - Bill Haley

I've got that on 78...

Mine would include Roses, but probably Elephant Stone. Others:
Kinks - Death of a Clown
Peter Rock and CL Smooth - T.R.O.Y.
Stevie Wonder - When I Fall In Love
Orbital - Chime
Public Enemy - Welcome To The Terrordome
Imagined Village - Hard Times Of Old England Retold

Chewie - hope you got tickets for Heaton Park... You sound like a proper Roses fan! I'm going on the Friday night.
