Hi,

I am interested in looking at photos of the old Crystal Palace Hotel, that used to stand where the Grape and Grain (Sportsman) now stands. There used to be an old hotel on that site, and it went from the top of the hill and around into Church Road. If you look up at the windows of the shops in Church Road (Noodle Time) you can see the original style windows. Also I once heard that there are tunnels under where the hotel and the round about was. Possibly basement storage. It was demolished way way back, and then there was a club on that site called the CPH, where I spent most weekends in my teenage years! I once saw a old photo of the original hotel in a book in Crystal Palace LIbrary, but wondered if anyone else knew anything about this? Thanks!

Wendy - you might also want to contact the Norwood Society.

Visit their website www.norwoodsociety.co.uk for contact details.

They have very good archives many of which, I believe, are held at the Upper Norwood Library.
