I bought some reduced priced Hake today as a sustainable alternative to cod. I did it in the oven with a pasta sauce kinda thing over the top with some olives and capers thrown in for good measure. It was actualy very nice so I've named it 'Hermies Hake and caper bake'

So my fish of the day is....................Hake.

Great thread Crabman :D I've been having a whale of time watching the virtual pun off and good to see you outa your shell:

ps my fish of the day's not really crab, it's definitley not European flounder nor is it dog or cat fish - let's play fishy charades:

My fish of the day is:

1 word, connects tail & bisque

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, lobster, loveliest of all the crustaceans.
I make mixes, some of which are quite good. My wife and I cook things too.

Anyone seen the film Cod Mornay Vietnam? - or the Shore-Shark Redemption? - Or The X-fillets - starring David Du-Anchovey?

Am ashamed to say when I was 18 I went to a do at the Queens hotel - in what was then the top floor bar - went under the name of a "fish-co- - teque"- had fish and chips then danced with my mates as there was no one else there apart from a young girl and her mum - nice view out the windows though

Sounds a bit FISHy this one.

A.C. Grayling is a bit more philosophical about his name.

There is no truth in the rumour that Ken Loach is doing a re-make of the Codfather and Goodbye Mr Chips
