Readers of the Telegraph were recently treated to a paper that smelled of freshly baked bread as part of a bakery-inspired promotion. Both the front and back pages of the edition, published last Friday, were infused with the scent. Deputy editor Michelle Hurst hailed the introduction of the scratch and sniff newspaper as a 'technological breakthrough'.

'It was just a bit of fun, and we wanted to give the idea a try to see how it worked,' he said. 'It could be the biggest technological breakthrough for newspapers since colour was introduced.' Capsules of the scent were crushed onto the pages which readers must scratch off to sniff.

So what smell would you fancy wafting from your daily rag? I rather like the idea of fresh basil, marmite or freshly mown grass :D

There's a bit of a hum around here.

......so I went on to the Glade website. You can actually smell it. (Glade that is)

How do they do it? Is it that auto suggestion lark or do they get it to seep out of your USB port?
