Follow the link to a lovely bit of archive film available from British Pathe. Have tried to embed it without any success.

Is that a young Dazza, SLR and Uncle Wilf I can see?

That was the good old days when you could sit on the dinos ! well you wasnt allowed but me & my mates used to climb over the fence & kept one eye out for the parkie !

In my youth if you heard 1 of your mates shout leggit or parkie you just run & didnt ask questions ! Theose words saved my bacon a few times !

Indeed Dazza - it's a lovely bit of film. In my day, we'd have been all over those dinosaurs too. Probably would have constructed a boat to get across the lake or built a rope swing. Hanging out with my mates' big brothers in our local park, the words "Quick run" definitely resonate!

Wonder if it was beastly boys and girls climbing on the creatures that made their restoration necessary in 1959. Didn't know the Luftwaffe had done their bit too. The guy with the trowel and the cement makes it look dead easy - maybe he was one of the first wave of Poles with a trowel:

Fascinating! Intersting to see how early Elf & Safety came in - no fence round the lake in 1922, but there in 1959!
