Hi all,

I work in pickpocket central for London and its happened to me again - my iPhone was nicked off me. Turns out I'm only 2 months away from getting an upgrade anyway, but I' obligated to keep paying for my contract in the meantime (O2). And I have a major meeting to run on Tuesday (the AGM for the charit I run),so I need to sort this pronto.

So my query to you nice folks out there - anyone have an old iphone (any model) that I could borrow until I get a new one?

I'll be on the Crystal Palace Campaign stall today if you happen to have something to lend to tide me through these lean times, or send me a PM.

Thanks!
Z

Oh no! Commiserations (and sorry to miss you today at the festival). Only consolation: unlike mine, yours was still on contract! Mine, now my own, after I was out of the 18-month-contract period, 'disappeared' at work - and my phone insurance didn't cover it as it wasn't violently wrested from me. I've since cancelled the contract, after 10 years of paying for cover that didn't cover me! Rather miraculously, my home contents insurance did pay out - which I was glad about when I discovered its value was a whopping £500!

Problem semi-solved! A kind soul has lent me a phone that works, but the screen is partly greyed out.Its a hoot typing things in as I have to guess where some of the numbers are. So now, if anyone knows a cheap phone repair place to direct me to, I might get this fixed as a thanks for the loan.

Mac1 in Covent Garden, Mayfair and Spitalfields is excellent and does repairs within a day: http://www.mac1.net/ However, I think there is a chap on her who does iPhone repairs, if you do a search?

As a general rule, it's a good idea to get tracking software on your smartphone (and put a password on it).

The tracking software gets you close to its location. Then you set it to scream.
