Popped into the NSC to activate my joint NSC/Beckenham Spa membership and commented on the barriers hiding the beach volleyball courts from public view. 'Not our decision!' said the NSC representative. 'And we won't even get to meet any of them!' 'No welcome drinks and mingling?' I asked. 'No chance!' he said. Strikes me they - and we - have been shafted! So much for entente cordiale - or the Portuguese equivalent

Hmmm...... I've lived in CP over a quarter of a century and have never been mugged or pickpocketed.

Crystal Palace goes Brazilian - It's all nuts to me! ;)

Let's hope we at least get a hint of some warm and sunny Brazilian weather over the next month. Although, there are rumours that it is going to be the wettest Olympics on record. Good for the traditional british invented olympic sport of Poo Sticks for which we hold the British, European, Commonwealth. World and Olympic records ( 1948 )

I think its not pedantic in this case to ensure that the spelling is Pooh Sticks.....named after the famous bear.

Hahahaha- not sure where the h  went - it seems to have dropped off the end. Indeed it is Pooh Sticks - or maybe Poohsticks? Perhaps the mods would be very kind and edit it please? :)

Had a coffee in Braziliana earlier, and someone speaking Portuguese came in... Could have been a real life Olympian!

Hope you averted your eyes...we are not worthy of seeing real life Olympians.

Think I bumped into (literally) a couple of 'em walking along Church Rd - two pint sized, athletic looking guys with matching tracksuits and curly dark hair. They were doing the seemingly normal non-british thing of making no effort to avoid other people walking towards them on a pavement.

Not sure what you would get if you pickpocketed an olympian in a tracksuit..... a sweaty jock-strap maybe? Anyway, I wouldn't want to pickpocket them any more than I am sure they would want to pickpocket me. I hope they all have a fine time in CP and it would be great if they could mix with the locals a bit - who knows, I might even get a bit enthusiastic about the whole shebang!
