Anyone going to get tickets for the View @ The Shard. We thought about but then at £25 a pop though better of it. Rip off Britain strikes again.

The Quatari's gotta get their investment back somehow - I know they are flogging a load of £55M appartments to cover costs but these guys are serious investors and will expect to see more than cost covering.
"The tower will be the centerpiece of the US$3bn London Quarter project, which is being developed by Qatari Diar and the Sellar Property Group."
Seems like most of London is now owned by Qatar http://www.arabianbu...don-464756.html

£25 is a complete rip-off. I went up the Fernsehturm in Berlin last year for 12 Euros. It's an iconic TV tower, built during the 60s in the DDR.
I'd love to go up the Shard but not at that price. For comparison, the Eiffel Tower is 14 Euros and the Empire State Building, $25.

Looks like you had to be much closer than Gipsy Hill to appreciate the show:

I was five minutes walk away and it was still a mere twinkling of fairy lights - those pix were taken from a helicopter, I warrant! x

The booking site for the Shard has been down most off the day I'm informed due to high demand....

Not a patch on the CP transmitter towers. Those flashy pictures above look like they've been taken with some photo-trickery or funny exposure settings - neither of which are available to the human eye watching it live. It was poor. Apart from being weakly illuminated they beamed "lasers" onto St Paul's, which amounted to a small red dot.
