This morning at 4am there was a fatal motorcycle accident on the corner of Thicket Rd & Crystal Palace Park Rd. Police are not sure if an automobile was involved or if the bike driver simply lost control. The site was treated as a crime scene this morning, with roads closed in both streets for a number of hours.

Just caught this link in the travel thread (though it says little more).

There are some flowers and a candle at the scene.

And, six months on, the night lights are still lit every night and the flowers replaced weekly in the vase taped to the lamppost for this young man http://www.thisisloc...ke_crash_named/, whose grieving mother has recently added his photograph and a note in Portuguese to this poignant little shrine :(

Ugh...this makes me shudder. I had a nasty low speed motorbike accident off College Road at the beginning of May. Bust both my wrists very badly requiring emergency surgery when my heavy bike slammed me down after the rear wheel jammed. At ~20mph I learned my lesson and won't ride now. If it had been on the main road (I was on a private development road approaching the junction) I would likely be dead now; no understatement, of that I am painfully aware.
I truly feel for the parents, family and friends of this young guy. RIP.

When you lost your child, 6 months will feel like a second. No words.

This will be a terrible year for this poor woman. The first Christmas without her son, the first birthday etc... The only thought of relief is that even grief is NOT endless. A sentence I learned a in a self aid group for people who lost a child and which helped through sad times.
