A new Creative Craft Studio has opened it doors in nearby Beckenham. Crafts Bee offers a wide variety of craft classes and workshops to suit all levels of ability, beginner to advanced.

Classes include Sewing, Scrapbooking, Silk Painting, Stained Glass, Felting, Jewellery, Upcycling, Paper Crafts, Knitting & Crochet, Flower Arranging and Seasonal Crafts. Most classes are run as half day, day and taster but private sessions and term classes are also available.

Attendees will learn how to make things by hand, and then get to take their handcrafted object home, making an ideal present or item for the home.

This looks really interesting. The location wasn't very prominent on the website so I checked the Contact us page and it's 247 High Street, Beckenham, Kent, BR3 1AB.

How fabulous! We are taking advantage of the school holidays, and have booked a session for this week. Looks like it will be fun and educational! Will report back. R

Good to hear CB, and I'm really looking forward to doing a couple of courses with you - but I'm afraid the website won't let me! I've filled everything in, not forgetting the discount code of course, checked it twice but each time get this message:
This transaction attempt has failed. Please use the Proceed button go back to the web store from which you were purchasing. The details of the failure are given below.
Status: INVALID
Status Detail: 3021 : The Basket format is invalid.

I haven't done anything to your basket format, but it does look a bit odd, as it stretches down the right-hand column with only one word per line. Maybe it doesn't work with Google Chrome? I'll try in another browser but please have a look at it!

Nope, no joy with Explorer either. I didn't even get a 'fail' message this time - when I clicked 'Purchase' it just took me back to the checkout page, having helpfully wiped my details. :(

Here's the promised review of our visit to the 'Mother and Daughter - Learn to Use a Sewing Machine and Make a Cushion' course that we did last week.

Firstly, Craft Bee is super easy to get to from Crystal Palace (just on the roundabout in Beckenham, opposite the cinema) so on the 227 bus route. And the space itself is great - friendly, bright and light, with big windows and comfortable work spaces.

The lesson was very well structured, broken down into bite-size pieces of instruction and practical work, with very clear handout sheets and guide sheets. Our teacher, Tracey, was warm and enthusiastic, a clear communicator and very encouraging.

We had a fun and informative three hours, and came away with new skills and a lovely cushion. This particular course was £42 for the two of us, so good value, I felt, especially given the small size of the group. There are lots of discounts available (on the site, on fliers) so could be an even better bargain.

So all in all, highly recommended and a great addition to the locality. Well done to Karen - we wish you lots of success. We will MOST definitely be back to do some more

BTW I booked online using Safari. All worked without a hitch.

All dealt with very kindly and efficiently by Crafts Bee. It turns out the software didn't like the discount code and this is being fixed. Am really looking forward to my flower arranging and jewellery making!

Thanks for all the positive comments. The problem with the discount code is still ongoing and is much more complex than we orginally thought (or so the website designers tell me). To avoid anyone else having problems we have had to take it off the special offers page until fixed. However if anyone reading this wants to book and use it email us via the contact page on the website and we will make sure you get the discount.

We would love to do evening classes but the council will not grant us planning permission at the moment. They are worried about noise! We hope to put another planning application in in a few months time and hopefully it will be granted then.

We do have some Saturday Sewing classes coming up on 15 September and 6 October.

Oohh, this looks brilliant! I'll definitely start saving up for the stained glass class. Sounds like so much fun and very good value for money.

Good luck with it all!

Looking forward to seeing you at the stained glass class Miss Emma.

If you are looking for a bargin in the meantime I am just about to post a really good special offer. Polymer Clay Jewellery making workshop on Saturday 1 September reduced from £65 to £38 per person. For a full day class that's a great bargin and Polymer Clay is a great craft and really easy to carry on at home.

Book at http://www.craftsbee...-and-bracelets/ and the discount will be automatically applied at the checkout.
