Hi. Does anyone know what the origin of Cintra Park is?
I understand there used to be a large property called Cintra House. Where does the name come from?
Any links with Sintra in Portugal?

I wonder, it wouldn't surprise me. The original Cintra was a house built to the east of Church Road in the 1830s. One possibility (but I've no evidence to support) is that it could be linked to a treaty signed in 1808, after the British and Portuguese had defeated the French:

Now does anyone know why we have Westow Hill and Westow Road? Who or what was Westow?

That sounds like it. Thanks! I noticed that in Stanford's 1872 map of London, Cintra Park was called Talavera Road, so that would be consistent with the Peninsula War theme.

No idea about Westow. There is a Westow in North Yorkshire. That's the only reference I found. My guess is that it was named after Westow House.
