I lived in Church Rd 1864/1865 , died here after slashing my throat and am buried in All Saints - Church Rd / Beulah Hill , paid for by public fundraising having spent my family fortune on public works for the better meant of mankind . Ken Russell lived 6 doors away in the 1950's as did Corbett in the 60's and some modern day celebs live off Church Rd and Fountain Dr but it would be bad form to name them.

It was a Bentley - yes a cusion and raised pedals. First house in Church road on right past Auckland rise towards palace.

Forget if it was Brian Poole or one of the Tremeloes that lived Auckland road on the right just after Cypress Hill.

Acker Bilk Stambourne Way (or was it his road manager?)

Bowie (David Jones) and Marc Bolan at the White Swan on occasions

Deja vu - I think this has been discussed before...............

Ooh, I used to have a crush on him!

When I lived in Sydenham Avenue Clive Griffin http://en.wikipedia....i/Clive_Griffin was a neighbour and very dishy he was too :) He climbed a tree to save my kitten (hero! :hugkiss: ) and we repaid him by drunkenly singing the 'finger of fudge' ditty under his window one night (sorry Clive :( ).

Had to Google the White Swan but note it is now Westow House (where's the Legends of Rock plaque?!)

Ooh, I used to have a crush on him!

Me, too - those sideburns! Swoon...

However, there is some seriously dodgy body-popping from the kids in this vid - don't think Diversity have much to worry about! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YlXtrnh-Ejo

Oh, and here's the earlier thread on this very topic, with Joe's fantastic anecdotes about washing Ronnie Corbett's Bentley and Acker Bilk's coach!: http://www.virtualno...ood-chat-forum/

Mark Steel was/is a local resident.
One of the many vocalists of the Drifters used to live in Upper Norwood.
Alan Johnson MP is a local boy altho bad form to specify.

And Uncle Wilf remains local. Cut me ladies and gentlemen and I bleed SE19. Until house prices drive me to move to the epicentre of the 2011 summer riots.
