Hi

My boiler (Worcester 240 Combi) which is about 20 yrs old has stopped working - it had been making a strange whirring noise for a few days since turning the heating on last Friday, but is 'dead' as of this evening. Any recommendations for local repairers? I'm reluctant to call Brit$h Ga$ and get ripped off!!

Thanks

Would thoroughly recommend Pro Heating & Plumbing. Local firm and accredited Worcester Bosch engineers. Give them a call on 020 8670 0747 or 0800 731 7357.

I'd like to recommend Steve Fitch (07921-720289). He is one of the old school - on his first visit, he charged me for parts and not labour and, in the process, saved me the £100 another larger local firm had quoted for a ten-minute job. That same firm did its best to persuade me I needed a new boiler (a Worcester Bosch at £2,500), but Steve quoted £1,600 for the same model, though he is doing his best to help my 24-year-old Glowworm lope along a little longer with a few patch-ups! Straight-talking, experienced and affordable.

Apologies for the odd appearance of the monetary amounts - I posted this from my phone! Hopefully it's still legible.

Another thumbs-up for Pro H & P, though they've only had to service our boiler it was done efficiently and at reasonable cost.

Another big thumbs up for Steve Fitch - he came at short notice to help me with my broken boiler and shower and provided a fast, efficient, friendly service at a very reasonable price. Now I am ready to face the cold snap that AWS promised us!

Steve tells me he's had five other VNers call him for plumbing work or boiler repairs or installation since my recommendation, which is great! Please post here if you were one of them so we know how you got on and the sorts of things he can do.

Steve Hibbert of SH Plumbing  Heating has just made me a happy customer - no boiler last week in the cold and dived around to mine and made the dash to the parts shop to get me a new fan system before it closed at 5 on Friday - blimmin' good straight-to-the-point service and a nice chap with it. PLUS the all important bill was really reasonable for all the work he put into the boiler and the other jobs I had him round for....

We just had Lily from Apprentagas (http://www.apprentagas.co.uk/) come and replace the PCB on our boiler. She's based in Anerley and is also listed on the Gas Safe Register (Engineers Of Eve Ltd).

Cheap, efficient and very friendly. Our daughter (3 yrs) thought she was the bees knees!

Highly recommended!
