Considering the original thread for opening and closings has been going on forever and is pages and pages long I thought I would do a thread for the new year and compare with the year that has just gone as it’s a good barometer on the state of town centre in the last year and would be good to compare to future years. Considering we were in recession for much of last year the town centre looks surprisingly healthy.

Feel free to add anything I have missed

If this allows for snaking off the triangle you can include the cycle cafe thingy at the top of Anerley Hill as a newy - I think that opened in 2012

The thread is supposed to be for openings and closings in all of the Norwood areas, plus Penge and Sydenham. I think it may get disjointed if it is split into different sections but I guess we can see how it goes.

Agree SL. I think it should still cover all areas of Norwood.

On Anerley Road:

In
La Belle Jolie
Crystal Creams
Il Grillo
Twin Spirits

Out
The double-fronted no-name letting agents (the lack of a sign was perhaps a mark of its staying power)

Sorry to be a killjoy too but I agree with hermit. Surely the later pages would still show all the new openings and closings anyway. Plus the fact I had a hand in the new closings bit. A bit of an slr legacy if you were

No nothing quite as glam gill. I think I started new closings which got merged to openings. I like to think its my biggest achievement on here. Well apart from getting rid of the ads on the fence of the grape and grain!

Surely it’s better to break it down into years as it’s a better way to keep tracks of ins and outs and new developments in the area. The old one stretched to 117 pages and was getting right messy and hard to find old info that got lost in the thousands of posts.

P.S SLR now you’re a country bumpkin and you forfeit any rights you have to any threads here. You will have to start a Virtual-MK and post threads to your heart’s desire and have the middle classes agonise about the issues of the day there ;)
