We would like to have this in our kitchen / dining room and am looking for a company that does this.  Does anybody have any recommendations?

I would be also interested to hear from anybody who has had it done recently and how they found it on the cost front.  Our architect thinks it could be 'prohibitively expensive'.   I didn't think concrete was such an expensive material....

Thank you.

What type of floors do you have at present?

We've got a mixture of floor boards and quarry tiles on concrete.  The work will be done as part of a larger building project and slight extension.

Factors that will affect the overall price will be:

Depth/condition of existing solid floor;

Depth of void under existing suspended timber floor;

Existing services/ventilation.

No personal experience, but do believe it is quite expensive.  All services (water, gas, electric, heating) should be moved to avoid digging floor in the future if access is required.

Consideration could be given to underfloor heating in these areas, as solid floors are ideally suited to it.
