Don't forget tonight is your last chance to sign up to the Palace Pint project and buy your hops.

Latest from Palace Pint:

Thank you for your interest in hop growing, we've had a great response. As Crystal Palace Beer Growers is a bit of a mouthful we have decided to call the project 'The Palace Pint' so please link up to our Facebook Group of the same name.

Last year Helen Steer started the project in Brixton as 'Brixton Beer'. This year it is being run in Brixton, Crystal Palace, Streatham, Hackney and Cardiff.

The first stage of producing our own local ale will be to grow the hops, a perennial dwarf variety called Prima Donna. It is a compact climber to just 2.5m (7-8ft). Easy to grow and an ideal garden plant. We are selling starter packs which contain everything you need to in order to plant the hops on the day you receive them. The idea is to plant them all at the same time so that we can harvest them on or around the same day in late August/ early September.

Starter pack contents:
- One Prima Donna rhizome
- Hop twine
- Gravel
- Seaweed fertilizer
- Well rotted manure

They cost £20 for the first pack and £10 for each additional pack thereafter.

Pack Collection day will be Sunday March 17th at the Grape and Grain Pub in Crystal Palace on Anerley Hill between 12-3pm. If you're not free on that date we can arrange for you to collect them at a different time. Payment will be taken on the day, cash preferred.

We will also be planting hops that day in the pubs' 'Tipsy Garden', so you can see a demo on how to get started.

Orders for starter packs need to be received by Friday March 8th. So please let us know:

- How many packs you want (payment on collection)
- Where you will grow your hop/s (postcode or allotment site and potted or planted)

If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail. And/or why not come meet us on Wednesday 13th March for 'Green Drinks', 8pm at the Grape and Grain Pub. We will be more than happy to discuss the project further with you in person there.

All the best!
Kate and Karolina
