This is initially a fixed term contract for 51 weeks, with possibility of renewal.


 St Hugh’s Community Centre is hiring a part-time centre co-ordinator


This is a new opportunity to join our team of volunteers as our first paid member of staff. You will establish and maintain strong community and partnership links while working with a diverse community.


The Community Centre is a purpose-built community facility with facilities for community education and local events.

To be successful, we are looking for a highly self-motivated, committed and flexible individual who is able to provide support our existing community activities and volunteering programme. Some work may be needed outside normal hours and at weekends. You will be responsible for managing our programme of free classes running in 2014-15.


You will also have:

  • Experience of community engagement, development and partnership work
  • The ability to market and promote the centre as a community facility providing access to services for all sectors of the community
  • An interest in how to ensure the on-going financial sustainability of the centre in supporting funding applications from many different areas and by contributing to its operations being self-financing
  • Some experience in managing daily financial duties, petty cash, invoices, recording info on finance system etc
  • Familiarity in working with volunteers
  • Be ready to maintain the high standards in which St Hugh’s and its trustees and volunteers take pride
  • The ability to multi-task, which is essential
  • Excellent communication, written, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Local knowledge and contacts
  • Up to date knowledge of relevant current legislation i.e. Employment regulations; HSE guidelines
