Pleasant, large airy bar/ pub with good selection of beers.
They could do with serving some decent food like the excellent pizza at the Waterfront at Streatham Common. I like the 'open fires'.
Managed to hire out the lower section of the pub for a function for a party earlier in the year (at no cost if the drinks kept coming (45 people)).
No problems with service but bar staff could be smilier, chattier.
Late licence is good - open till 12 at weekends
Bouncers on the door are rather conspicuous.
Good pub but could be better if they got rid of gambling machines, improved the lighting (too bright) and tried to create a better atmosphere - maybe just needs to get established a bit more. Would be ideal for acoustic sets.

Drinks are pricy but it's a nice place. Has more room than other places on the triangle, the doorman (I think his name is Moses...) is actually a really nice guy. :)

"Squarely aimed at upwardly mobile Crystal Palace residents"????

So how do you enforce a door policy like that? get people to fill out a questionnaire..........?

I can see a bouncer saying "i'm sorry sir but you're just not aspirational enough so you're not coming in. you're socio-economic group is not fluid enough. sorry mate rules are rules."

obviously it's trying nick all the punters from the Cambridge. :P

Made the mistake of taking a friend here a couple of Saturdays ago.

After a while, the music was so loud you quite literally could not have a conversation.

Totally pointless.

Fridays and Saturdays are for people who want to have a good boogie, that's why they turn the music up. Very successful too judging by the amount of people in the place.

I'd never describe the clientele as "alcopops party-people" but the average age is slightly younger. And I've never had a problem with Sundays... a good place for a lazy afternoon with friends if you ask me... especially if you get one of the sofas...

But the booze is blummin' pricey...

I agree with Elmo... It's the only place you can go on a Saturday if you want to get on down. I think I'd try Numidie's for a quieter Saturday evening.

Elmo... I must have seen you before as my girlfriend and I spend lazy Sundays in The Bluebottle drinking Guinness :)

I agree that it's pricey, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If they dropped prices then the place would attract a different type of person.

I agree, great for a quiet pint and ploghing your way through a good book or the Sunday papers.

And they've finally got a good northern bitter on (Boddingtons). Became a bit of a demon on the table football but no one has been willing to take the challenge in a while!

Your on! Used to play at uni (which was a while back) and was pretty good defense player if playing doubles.

I might give the Bottle another try. It sounds like it can be alright during the day.
