I've seen people in there wielding bargepoles.
As someoone commented on earlier, it's a real shame about this place, as it has such an incredible view from the garden, day and night.

The Puzzle looked very very closed last night. Apparently it shut up shop a couple of days ago??

I will be passing by there at the end of the working day today... I'll take a look and see.

I'll have to try and muster up a feeling of devastation.

Could it be curtains for "is it a pub or is it bar"? Could the response now be "it doesn't matter, sunbeam, it's closed either way."

Well here's hoping that it re-opens with a bit of style if this is the case...

Ive been in here a couple of times during afternoon visits, its been nice. The interior is more of a modern feel than most pubs/bars in the triangle, which I welcome, not every place has to have the tradional feel. However, the troublesome aspect is obviously this places down-fall...

Still, its a watch this space moment...

You're quite correct, maestro, it certainly has a more modern feel in terms of its interior althought that would be late 1990s modern feel in a sense.

And in the afternoon it seems less volatile than of an evening in the main.

However, the modern feel seems to lend itself to a particularly modern brand of trouble.

"Puzzle Pub Company, the managed operator headed by Jamie Dutton-Forshaw, is looking to sell the Puzzle Pub on Westow Hill, Crystal Palace, for around £830,000.

The site is one of the first five freeholds owned by Puzzle. Dutton-Forshaw said: "The pub falls between two police authorities and two councils and we didn't feel we were getting the right support from the police."

interesting.

I am glad it is closing, for purely selfish reason that I would never ever have drank there anyway. Hopefully it will be replaced with something more along the lines of the White Hart - a bit of heathly competition never hurt anyone.

Not getting the right support from the police?

Very interesting. I wonder if any other pubs in the area have experienced the lack of "right support".

I'm not happy about it closing. It seemed to attract some unsavoury characters... where will they go once it's closed?

It's also one less place to watch footie on the triangle. That only leaves Jack Beards, BBottle, Hollybush, Cambridge, Gipsy Hill Tavern, Alma... hang on that's pleanty! :P

I wouldn't worry too much Ged. I don't think they'll be coming to Numidie or the White Hart :D . They'll just go somewhere else that does 2-for1 offers on Stella  .
