Please settle a mini-dispute in the extended Uncle Wilf family.

Did what is now Los Toreros (the tapas bar) used to be the post office years ago? I swear blind that it was because I remember being draggedup the stairs by my mum one freezing winter as a boy (being off sick from school with flu) at Christmas time and queuing up for something.
Dissenters say that The Postal Order used to be the post office because of its name. (see where they're coming from?) All I remember this being was Funjunction.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Also any other old shops/pubs/bars now gone that people recall from comparitively recent years?

I have a feeling it WAS a post office, yes. But dont know why i think that.

It was also once "Fun Junction" (more recently). Never went in there but looked like a kid's playground type thing, ball pits and suchlike.

Remember the toy and pram shop used to be kind of opposite where Cafe Lava is? Now that was a long time ago.

:D
Yes where Gurkha Cottage is now.

Who remembers Smokey's? and Ukay Hamburgers which I think is now Norwood Cafe.
My Grandad used to go there years ago and try what he called "one of them American Burgers."

There was also a bookshop on the same side as the Wetherspoons pub which is now obviously gone.

Smokeys was where Numidie is, no? Wasnt it just the downstairs bar though?

Also wasnt there an old fashioned style sweety shop? I think it was the first shop down Gipsy Hill, next to the Tanning Salon. And also then a cake baking shop with all different shape cake tins?

Hmmmm, memory is hazy on all above.

Or the White Swan (now O'Neills). Was it Swan? White something anyway.

After i had finished my Saturday job on the tills at Safeway (happy days), we used to pop in there for a coca cola.....

I think the glass on the office down from the tanning salon still refers to sweets etc.

The specialist cake tin shop was there until about 2 years ago - my mince pie tin was bought there!

Yes hello. Good old All Saints.

Still going strong. My mum was a dinner lady there for a number of years...

Does anyone remember Olga Patisserie?

Los Torros was the post office. You can still see the old postbox on the way up the stairs....
