Sorry to hear you're leaving...

I hired a van through Poplar Van hire on Elmers End Road. Hired a long wheel base Transit from Saturday till Tuesday morning and it cost £120 and Ray that owns the place is friendly.

Good luck with the move

I agree , that poplar are very good for van hire but they dont come with a spare pair of moving hands....so to speak... but if its just a van you need then these are definatley the guys to rent it from.... B)

We used Lara Transport (020 8670 0251) after they were recommended on here by United. I found them to be friendly, efficient and they were a good price.

I knew I shouldn't post so late at night

As Twinkle pointed out Poplar only hire vans, not men (I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere :) )

We used Field Transport (based in New Cross) - see www.fieldtransport.co.uk

They supplied boxes , a complete packing service , 3 removers and a truck and moved all our stuff from a 2 bed third floor flat to a two bed second floor flat for £680.00 (inc VA and insurance)

I though they were pretty good - especially with delicate items - we had no breakages apart from one small tear to a lampshade and a very bent Papyrus palnt

Hello, we moved here a couple of weeks ago, and used Matthews removals which is based in Crystal Palace. Service was great, plenty of boxes supplied in with the price, which we thought was very reasonable. On moving day, Ian was really helpful and accomodating when we got the keys to our new house quite a lot later than anticipated. All the guys worked really hard, and I would definately recommend them.

Sad to report that I used Field removals again for my most recent move and they were truly terrible.

A complete contrast to the excellent service the first time they moved me

One of the three removers (who claimed to have food poisoning) looked as if he was about to collapse and was next to useless so the job had be done by the remaing two alone.

They ran out of boxes and wrapping material so I ended up having to move all the glassware (despite paying for a full packing service)

They didn't even bother to wrap breakables like mirrors and pictures and then moaned when tea was offered without biscuits.

My wife phoned the owner Philip Field who was completely disinterested.

Never again . I withdraw my earlier recommendation completely

We used Mathews removals last weekend and they were excellent. Admittedly we only moved about 500 yards, but there was a lot of stuff - at least it seemed a lot in our old house, but we can now accumulate loads more rubbish etc. etc. until we have to buy Windsor Castle.

I think thats them, yes. We only moved from the triangle down Church road, but as far as the loading/unloading goes, they just got on with the job, asking enough questions for us to feel confident things were going in the right place. No fuss or problems at all.
