I did as a child spend most of my free time in the park and remember the figures very well
having waded through the water around the small half-island to get at them often. There could
have been no way that adults even little ones could have sat down to dine inside even the largest
Sculptures, at least not the ones that I had stuck my head up inside.
One possibility is that they were made in half moulds and maybe somebody used the bottom half
as a dinning area with their legs inside and sitting on the rim?. I have also seen the print where
a group of top-hated guys are making merry but sadly could not find it again in any of my Victoria/
CP literature, but I shall keep looking.
That by the way was way back when the boating lake still was one and long before the racetrack was
removed and zoo and adventure park were built and "Charlie" I think was one of the park wardens, a
nice guy with sideburns right down to his chin and a brown uniform looked a bit like a Victorian
Gamekeeper.
Even still had a wooden cricket pavilion/cafe.
Please excuse my meandering.

Correction: it was Albert not Charlie.
