I remember being the only West Ham fan in here for the 2004 playoff final Vs Palace... friendly bunch of people in there, but I left disappointed and haven't been back since... <_<

But... I like to think we got the last laff! 7 and counting baby!!! ;)

I passed Jack Beards, at the top of Anerley Hill, on Sunday morning at about 2.30am and was surprised to see it open (and busy) and blasting out music. I wonder whether the residents of the soon to be completed development behind the pub have taken this into account? Some of the flats must be only 30 metres from the pub, 250,000 is a lot to pay if you can't get a decent nights sleep.

Well the way it's been for the past couple of years, napalming the place would be a vast improvement.

This place is being done up with a new name: The Grape and Grain.

Hope the place impresses more than the title suggests.

I walk past here every day as it's just up the hill from me. I have to say it's nice to see that there's a real effort going into the refurbishment as it has been bloody grim for the entire time I've lived in CP. They have very odd little walls between the new outside tables though...

Hope it's not a let-down when it re-opens...

I hope this pub is a lot better too, but the name totally escapes me, what is that bizarre sounding name about??

I'm guessing Grape = wine and Grain = beer :)
Lets hope it serves the best of both!

I've closed this thread and started a new one for the new name here: The Grape and Grain.

I kinda like the name.

PS. While on the subject of alcohol, don't forget about the upcoming VN Social.
