I haven't been for a while now but the Hero's was always cracking little pub, a wee bit out of the way but worth the trip. There's some great characters in there who all seem to know each other and have a good old laugh. They always had a good selection of beer too with a couple of good guest ales on tap. Never tried the food but the menu looked decent and they had a special serving area at the back of the pub. On top of all that the gents loos were probably one of the best I've seen!

An average boozer really.
Dropped by here on Saturday with my father-in-law and a mate and it was ok but nothing special.

Agree with SmallB though - 2 decent guest ales on which is a plus.

Popped in here last summer (!) to see a little pig wandering about while a bemused cat watched. Friendly enough place!

been past many a time but never been in - always looked a bit pokey - if I lived nearer might have been somewhere cosy to meet mates for a drink - main reason for posting is to prove these threads can be like waiting for buses - nothing for 7 years then 2 come along together!

A proper pub of the type you get often in villages and very rarely in London. A dying breed. Amazing to find a pub in this area which has not been bought by antic, painted black and filled with cynically trendy junk. Or turned into a gastro pub. I love gastro pubs too but very happy to have found a proper local. Can't wait to see the pig.

Been in a few times over the last few months and can confirm it's a decent local boozer and no sign of trendy junk, board games or men wearing deck shoes and trying to speak Estuary English.

I can also confirm sighting of the pig.  I'd only had one Guinness so my account is entirely reliable your honour.
