A very spacious pub that does pizzas and salads - they have a woodburning pizza oven thing. It's usually pretty quiet when I have been - for weekend lunch usually, but I can image it heaving on Friday and Saturday nights (never been then so can't verify that).

During the day, there is usually sport on. They have a small beer garden/yard around the front.

Generally I like it, although it would be nice if they varied their menu from time to time (my usual veggie gripe about places!)

I am a little scared of one of the barmen (if I am allowed to say that) although there is nothing intrinsically scary about him!

The Rosendale is no longer a Bar Room Bar pub and has been taken over by an independent. The upper part is a silver service restaurant. The lower part is still a bar. They have a specialist chef in place, and the menu is now of the "braised ox cheek with dauphinoise potatoes" type. I'm not joking! (it was rather good by the way).

It was very quiet when I was in last week, but according to the barmaid takings are up due to the higher cost of the food, and punters spending money on wine rather than Carling.

The TVs were all off (bliss), and there are major renovation and refurbishment works planned. These include knocking French windows into the back wall (by the huge fireplace to the left of the ladies) and bringing the unused rear garden into play. The colossal upstairs room (disused for several years) will become a function room.

Good luck to them...

This sounds great - there was a bit on it in December's Dulwich Life - apparently the new owners also own a gastro pub called the Greyhound in Battersea, so I guess you could say they have pedigree :D - should be good.

Had lunch there yesterday. Very much enjoyed it. Very good service and nice food (delicious home made bread!) They have a vegetarian option too if you ask. Only slight downside was the music, which was very much pub ambience rather than restaurant atmosphere.

Yeah the new owners are those of the Greyhound (my fav gastropub) in Batetrsea/Clapham Junction - food and service there is great.

I need help on this as I was thinking to book a table at the Rosendale for NYE with otherhalf, I do trust the Greyhound management but never been to the Rosendale and I do not want to sit and SHOUT at my bf trying to say happy new year (and happy anniversary)

Any further reccommendation on this is welcome

The music wasn't loud when I ate there, but that's no guarantee for New year's Eve. Maybe ask them what's going on that night? Or venuture there on Friday/Saturday night...

Oh that's a shame - they said they were serving food when I called them few days ago ... no worries - I have decided otherwise I'll do the cooking for NYE's dinner !!!!

Went passed here last night and the building work has started - the place is shut and being completely gutted so should hopefully be good once it's all done

Found this on squaremeal.co.uk:

The Greyhound at Battersea has been a massive success since opening in 2005, so we’ve got high hopes for owners Mark and Sharlyn van der Goot’s new project, The Rosendale. Housed in a Victorian coachhouse in West Dulwich, Mark tells us that the venture ‘will have a proper gastropub with blackboard menus and real ales on the ground floor, and a modern British restaurant upstairs.’ The wine list will offer over 500 bins and the large alfresco garden will host barbecues throughout the summer. Look forward to a June opening.
