I went to watch the Liverpool game yesterday (and now wish I hadn't!) at the Puzzle with a couple of mates. We got there to find that it looks as though it has closed. Does anyone know any more about this? It's my preferred place for the football on the triangle.

As the Puzzle has now been closed, what would people like to see there next? I assume it will be another bar/restaurant but what food style would attract people? We have so many great and not so great pubs, gastro-pubs and food only places that it will have to be good to survive the competition around here. No-one seems to consider the locals' opinions as to what to open, surely there is a better chance of long term success if someone provides what is wanted?

I was strolling past the old Puzzle pub in Westow hill today and the builders are in and gutting the place. What's it going to be? Anyone know? I could have asked the builders but I was on the other side of the road and didn't think it was very lady like to shout across the street.

The newsagent side of budgens has closed and is being worked on too.

The freehold on that place was nearly 1 million wasn't it? Hope it's another bar...

Because of the size of the place, and the fact they're bothering to refit it, I'd guess some kind of chain restaurant, but not McDonalds. Hmm, maybe we'll get a Nandos after all. Unless it's a bar with a very different decor which would justify the refit. Wouldn't be so bad if they could get rid of the cavernous airport-lounge feeling in there.

As for Budgens, I'd guess they might be expanding as they said they would originally, but I could be wrong... I would guess they don't get quite as much trade now that Sainsburys has been open a while.

With the garden, it would make sense for it to be a bar/restaurant...
Nando's would fit in terms of size.

I have a mind like a sieve... what was it before it was The Puzzle?

Has anyone been to Leon's up in near
Spittlefield market? It would be perfect for CP - reasonably priced, good food, easygoing, quirky atmosphere. www.leonrestaurants.co.uk/index.htm

Walked past there last night and had a nose through the window. Someone had left the plans out nearby and I could make out lots of tables throughout, inside and out. Looked like a restaurant to me but the writing on the plans was too small for me to read.
