Anyone know of any amateur choirs in the area? New Year's resolution was to join one. Not too fussed on type of music as long as it isn't too high brow. Have surfed the net with no success. Everything round here seems either attached to a church or for people who are semi-professional. Would welcome any local knowledge.

I was a member of Lewisham Choral Society for a while, a few years ago. They might be worth a try if it's not too far for you. They rehearse in Forest Hill and you don't have to audition. I couldn't even read music when I joined, but I managed to pick things up quickly enough. http://www.lewishamchoral.org/

This topic has reminded me how much I miss singing regularly... maybe I should consider rejoining!

Dear Elleme and Lucysmith (and any other choristers out there!)

Please come and try out the Dulwich Choral Society We meet at 7.30 on Mondays in the Herne Hill Baptist Church, Half Moon Lane (near the station). We have just appointed a new conductor Aidan Oliver and we would be delighted if some new members could join us. Have a look at http://www.dulwichchoralsociety.org.uk. The Membership Secretary is on 020 7737 3169. (NB no rehearsal next Monday as it is half term).

The next concert will be on 10 March at St John the Evangelist, Goose Green, E Dulwich (Faure, Vaughan Williams and Bernstein) and in June we will be doing an Elgar Anniversary Prom concert at St James, Picadilly, and we also do various local events from time to time.
