That's a real shame - I used to enjoy popping in there for a saturday afternoon treat. We were so excited when it first opened.

Really sad to see them go. Such a loss for the Palace. I always enjoyed browsing in there and made sure I bought my CDs there to support a local business. I popped in on Saturday and they told me they would be gone in 2 weeks due to a combination of the one-way system, downloads and online sales.

This is a shame.

About 25% of my CD collection was probably purchased in Warrior over the last 10 or so years.......

However in the last few years its range seemed to have shrunk somewhat and often you couldn't find what you wanted... but still a shame that it's going.

Now lacking a CD store in the area.... surely some entreprenueur somewhere might want to try and make it work.... ?

Funny the papers keep saying the triangle has a villagey feel but how can that be without a proper range of shops ?

Mind you this is probably something to do with the download at home scenario rather than the 1 way system causing this closure.

PS I have heard rumours that Beanos may have a stay of execution is that true ?

I believe that Beano's is staying, the record shop occupying the ground floor, and the upper floors housing various small shops, clothes stalls, tarot booths and the like.

It's a shame about Warrior, but the news about Beano's is the best thing I've heard all week. Let's all buy second-hand records to celebrate!

If it was just a rumour then the shop even printed out flyers announcing the rumour.
They even left some a few months back in The Dog And Bull pub on Surrey Street.

yes - and he even invited the press in so that he could talk about closing down.
bit daft really because now loads of out of town customers think that beanos is shut.
he shot himself in the foot for the sake of publicity. he admits this himself.

There is a planning application to demolish the shop an build an entrance to 4 flats some at the back the rest above Neros. Sorry couldn't put a link as the council site is not working at present.

Here is the link to the application.

I have emailed the Council to object to this as it would mean the loss of yet another shop.
