Did anyone see last night's episode of The Bill? It featured a café that had a broken window. The location used was the Sweet Potatoes and Yam café on the corner next to West Norwood Railway Station. Recently they also used the Queens Hotel in Crystal Palace as a filming location.

I'm just wondering how many other TV shows and movies have been filmed in our area?

I can think of:
- 118 118 on the steps of Crystal Palace Park
- Rolf Harris in Crystal Palace NSC Swimming Pool
- Magic FM in Gipsy Hill
- Ricky Gervais describing the comedy club above Borderlands in DVD bonus material for Animals
- Ali G at a Crystal Palace Park Multiplex protest
- ITN News outside UN Joint Library reporting on a traffic warden asleep on the job

The most famous one has to be 'The Italian Job', starring Michael Caine. It used Crystal Palace park for the scenes where the minis were tested and the van was blown up. The race track, terraces and tower are all clearly recognizable.

Your only supposed to blow the *** doors of ( Italian job) on site of running track before new stadium erected.

And apparently Hammer Film used to use several gothic buildings locally in the area I have been told.

Well, the recent ITV show Primeval made good use of Crystal Palace Swimming Pool/Sports Centre - a prehistoric (and very big!) alligator jumped up and ate someone diving off the top board!

Timely thread! I just saw this nice little piece in the paper about a fantastic photo of Bob Marley, taken at our own concert shell:
the story of the shot:

the shot itself

(its the great one in the middle)

Truth is, I'm not a huge reggae fan (despite my 'african roots') but I really love this shot.

The Bill. Keep hearing about them. I remember the park was used twice in one episode with no indication it was the same place.
Peep Show. The Channel 4 comedy used the terraces to film the characters doing a bungee jump.
Pot Noodle had advert filmed in the dry-cleaners next to Tesco's (Anerley)
The Tribe. Stephen Poliakoff film that ended up on the BBC has some scenes shot around the terraces.
And I remember the terraces being used for a backdrop to a wedding on some one off drama which I think starred Martin Clunes.

Searching for the name of the Stephen Poliakoff film led me to the IMDB website
The IMDB has a facility to allow people to add filming locations. A search for Crystal Palace brought up.

Borgus,

I'll see your 'italian Job' and raise you a 'Clockwork Orange' partly filmed in Nettleford Hall in W Norwood.

I've just seen a Vimto advert filmed in the CP diving pool. "Schlurple some purple" apparently.

Do adverts count?

Yes I noticed - it's been driving me crazy all week. It was definitely the lady owner.
