seemed a bit drear in here, Food average. Waiter says "Drink" (Command or request was not known) Customer Maybe, what have you got? Waiter goes away, no drink, no list, no nothing. Drink! I ask you.
I finished the meal, got out with minimal damage (No drink I suppose)
Have been unimpressed every time we have gone. The tandoor chicken has a bitter red paste smeared on it, the lamb curry is dull, with occasional sliver of green pepper to add interest. It failed to do so.

It is a travesty that it occupies the same restaurant space as the formerly excellent and authentic Jehangir ceylonese. Now that was an indian!

I thought Ghurkas was excellent (although perhaps it improve since the above poster went there as I only moved to the area a year ago).

Staff are incredibly friendly, you get free poppadoms and sherry upon arrival.

Food is very good quality, huge range. It's one of the best Indian restaurants I have ever been to.

I love Ghurka - polite staff 'offering' mysterious sherry-like tipple and popadoms to nibble on whilst looking through a huge selection of dishes - i always recommend the chef specials normally seasoned/spiced within an inch of its life ha ha...yummy... I know the restaurant surroundings arent what you call high-end but the food definatley makes up for the decor...
do go in - the prices and the portions are brilliant...

The Ghurka is great isn't it. Great food (love their Chilli Paneer), and mildly but pleasingly eccentric (much like CP!).
