Not drinking it at the moment, but I have done in the past on many occasions straight from the Brewery Tap... Castle Rock's Harvest Pale:

Jelinek Premium Absinthe thanks to my folks who just returned from Prague (I don't think they really know what it is).

A strange beverage that certainly does benefit from adding sugar. If anybody else has any 'serving suggestion' I'd be glad to hear them cos it tastes foul when you sip it neat :P

Does it have wormwood in it? You may end up writing poetry.
Tom/husband bought a special spoon with holes in it on which one places the sugar cube to ignite it. He went through an absinthe phase... which was replaced by a snuff one, also passed now. I think he is working his way through the 19th century.

I saw Disgusting Drinks on iPlayer this morning: http://www.bbc.co.uk...sgusting_Drinks
and you need to be careful of what's in your wine.

Apparently it's legal to use fish bladder extract. Ewwwww

ah finings. I used to make wine and isinglas is a standard 'ingredient' in the process. It's not left in the wine, as I think it's meant to bring sediments down to the bottom of the demijon or whatever. But it creates an issue if you are vegetarian. One that I have not paid too much attention to, along with leather shoes. One does one's best...

I am not drinking it right now because it's tad early in the day, but a colleague gave me a small bottle of damson gin for my birthday. Homemade, so if I am not on here for a while, I may have keeled over with 'food' poisoning.
