We went to the EH for a birthday dinner last weekend. As always the food was fantastic - in fact even better than previous visits. I really can't fault it and, based on food alone, I think it beats Joanna's (which I consider to be its main rival).

However there are still some minor gripes...
When booking we weren't told that the tables would be turned at 9pm. We weren't rushed through or encouraged to leave in any way, but I do find it uncomfortable knowing that someone is waiting for you to leave - especially when we weren't told of this when booking. If that had been the case we would have booked for 1/2hr earlier.
Secondly - why doesn't the bread make an appearance until 8.30pm?? I like bread whilst reading the menu, or alongside my starter (I like it even more with a sideplate, but lets not go there!). But I noticed that it was only tables sitting down late (say 8pm onwards) that were being offered bread. Why is this? I suspect its linked to my first point about table turning, but I could be mistaken.

Smashing grub, lovely restaurant, but service is still a sore point.

Went to ER for the steak night last night - great food (steak was fine too although not as nice as the more expensive ribeye a la carte version  ) - however, great value for money.

I thought the service was great - I ordered balsamico and olive oil to come alongside the bread - all no problem - however, to only receive 1 tiny slice of bread per person seems a little odd??

Anyways - I will be back !

If you would like more then they will gladly provide it in my experience.

Finally got round to trying this restaurant for a celebratory dinner - really liked it. Very nice food and I found the service good too. Would definitely go there again - my only gripe is that it makes the choice of which CP restaurant to choose even harder in future!

Went for a meal here on Wednesday and was really impressed with the food. We got there early so made use of the 3 courses for £15 if you order from 6pm-7pm. Will definitely be back.

I really love the way the Exhibition Rooms looks, and even with some hiccups in service it's such a relaxing place to eat. But I really wish there were some substantial vegetarian dishes on the menu, for those of us who accompany our meat-eating partners. It's tough being able to polish off the four pieces of (delicious) ravioli in the time it takes for your dining partner to just contemplate the wealth of niceness on their plate of Sunday roast. And it also feels weird knowing that I'm paying more for it, too... a real shame 'cos otherwise I'd be here far more often.

Mussels - vraiment!?! Moules à la crème??- My signature dish - might be a reason to make notre première visite.

Wow. Sounds nice.

Has Mussel Monday replaced Steak Tuesday? Can't tell from the website.

Had a fantastic Sunday lunch last Sunday.

The pork was really tender, the gravy was made with the juices from the pork was substantial and had real flavour. The Crackling was really crispy. The Apple sauce had huge chunks of tangy apples and tasted home made. The vegetables were perfectly cooked. I am not a huge fan of carrots, but I could have eaten them on their own.
All veg had a nice crunch to them. The praline and almond cheesecake was simply the best cheesecake I have ever had.

We really like this place and find the people who run it really friendly.

I had a great glass of wine, but they also do great cocktails.

The best sunday lunch we have had in London.

It's lovely inside, it makes you feel special. Hats off to the designers.

We shared a starter (Ravioli filled with ricotta and Sunblush tomatoes which was also great), two roast porks, and a shared desert with a glass of wine and an orange juice for just over £36. Brilliant.

After the thumbs up's for the Mussel Monday, we decided to give the ER's another go after hit and miss experiences in the past.

So, Steak Tuesday. (not yesterday)

Booked table for 8 and arrived on the dot. Ordered steaks straight away without looking at menu. No starters, just the main.

8.35. Nothing. 8.40 Waitress comes over to say sorry, but our ticket was lost in the kitchen, steaks will be with us in 5 mins. 8.45 nothing. 8.50 nothing (apart from steaks for people arriving after us) 8.55 nothing.

9.00 Steaks arrive. One hour from order to steak. Not acceptable. In fairness to the waitress she was most apologetic and humble. She asked if we wanted a drink, we said no as it wasnt clear whether it was by way of compensation or a purchase. It has to be said that the steaks were fantastic, but the whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth (pardon the pun) and really took the edge off my evening.

We'd only given the place another chance due to the positive comments on this thread recently. Sadly we wont be giving it another chance anytime soon.

Mrs Railings ticked me off for not leaving a tip, to which i replied that that sends a message that this is not acceptable. If I gave a tip would they bother with addressing the issue?

Was that harsh?

Felt sorry for the waitress who was attentive and efficient she looked very embarrassed at what had gone on.

Just back from a fabulous meal at ER - food scrumptious as always (especially the pork belly and duck egg with Hollandaise sauce) and such a lovely waitress. Two of the things I love about the place are 1) the fact that you can have a very good meal and come out without feeling uncomfortably stuffed, and 2) you can have a leisurely meal without being hurried along with course after course and no time for a breather and some good conversation.

Oh... and the Zinfandel  I wish I could buy this by the glass in local pubs.

Had a late Sunday lunch here today. Very good. We all went for the roast beef whcih was served as one solid lump of meat (bit odd) but was very soft and really tasty. I'm always suspicious when I receive just a couple of spuds, but it was filling along with the veg, and the gravy was lush. Horseradish was on the strong side, but overall a lovely meal.

Strange that they don't serve a chardonnay by the glass though...

two weekends running mrs b and i have attended sunday lunch at er... I have been unsure about it in the past, a few things not quite right but not enough not to return. Last sunday was good and I decided that it would be good to have a birthday lunch this week. Very enthusiastic waitress kept things rolling along nicely and three of us ate well drank champagne and then wine and we got out shy of £150...classic sunday lunch on the triangle...

We finally tried this place for the first time last night after hearing generally good things about it of late. I have to say that the experience has left me rather underwhelmed. The place looks nice, the staff were fine (although a little more enthusiasm from the cocktail bar staff wouldn't go amiss) but I have to say that all but one of us thought the food was distinctly average.
