We went to Yak & Yeti on Friday evening, they were absolutely pack, the food was excellent and service was good too. A friendly and smartly dressed man came around to our table and asked us for our feedback; nice of him. I have notice these guys are getting busy since the new signboard is up. I will definately go again.

The new sign looks much better - we're now looking forward to an invitation to their grand opening evening, as promised! please :P

I usually go in for a meal but as Mr. elleme was convalescing last weekend we ordered a takeaway. Food arrived before their estimated time (often with takeaways I have found it the opposite way around) and was as good as ever. Since they've been open I haven't noticed any deterioration in quality yet, unlike Mehfil which seemed to get greasier and less fresh-tasting towards the end of their stay. Hopefully the new and improved sign will attract more customers through the door.

I visited it for the first time the other week and the meal was excellent, which was quite a relief as I've found most of the curry houses in CP pretty poor.

I think the reason many places go downhill is because the chef moves on pretty quickly. Apparently, in Yak & Yeti's case, the chef is the owner so this is unlikely to happen.

And yes, thank god they changed their sign!

www.toptable.com are currently doing 50% off all food at Yak and Yeti if you book your table via them, and have a starter and a maincourse.

We had our first visit there last week and really enjoyed the food. Beautifully presented food, nice surroundings, none of the grease that a lot of curries have and, very tasty. We will go back, even when there isn't 50% off.

We have had a couple of excellent meals at the Yak & Yeti recently, and it has definitely become my first choice in CP now when we fancy an indian meal. Lovely food, beautifully cooked (and not falling into the british high st indian restaurant cliche of over oily and needlessly hot standard dishes) and impeccable service.

ok this is a random question - does anyone recall whether yak and yeti do salty lassi? I looked on the menu online and there's no mention of lassi, but I have had the sweet one in there so they must have some. My mother in law's coming over soon for a visit and she's a fan of salty lassi - wanted to know whether I should take her there.

We had a take away from there last weekend and it was the saltest food I have ever eaten, all three of us were up drinking water all night!!... very disappointing given the positive reviews here, back to Shelina for us for take aways

I went here last night. It was actually almost full, which is a good sign on a Thursday night. Excellent food and service - along with reasonable prices - made for 4 very happy customers. I certainly didn't find any of the food I had last night salty.

We had a disappointing meal here last night :( We try hard to support all the local restaurants with our custom, but probably won't be going back to Y&Y for a while - maybe there has been a change of chef?

The problems were that the starters were quite rubbery and the main dishes too bland (I ordered a medium hot chicken dish which sounded lovely but had virtually no spice to it at all - I also asked for a spiced up chickpea dish, but again this was very bland with no kick to it). Whilst we are not fans of the typical high street uk indian restaurant with red hot vindaloos etc., we do like some spice and a modicum of heat with indian meals.

On the plus side, the venue is tastefully decorated and the service was friendly and attentive - we were looked after well from that perspective.

we had a take away last weekend and it was up to the good standard we expect from Y&Y, though has anyone else notices they've changed their menu? my partner's favourite starter has gone, and he was quite miffed, but I asked for it anyway and we got it :) I think it's gone a bit more specialist nepalese, comparing the new and old menus - which makes sense given the competition for regular indian dishes in the area.

Another vote for Y&Y here, both eat in and take away. We also noticed the changed menu but they seem more than happy to prepare things from the old menu if you ask.

Personally I welcome the focus on Nepalese food on their menu as CTM wallahs are ten-a-penny.

Disappointingly they never held their Grand Opening evening - or were we left off the invitation list? :(
