I really love the food here

They do a very reasonably priced lunch menu and the food is delicious

The service is great; they will even teach you a few Thai words too if you ask

Nice decor, very busy (Sat night) but food was average and service was sometimes below par. A rushing waiter did not bother to find out who had ordered what and did not help transfer food from a dangerously hot plate. Prices were reasonable.

Off to Tamnag Thai for the first time tomorrow night. Any dishes you peeps can highly recommend?

Been in here a couple of times. Once on a Sunday and it was decent. The other time on a rainy bank holiday Monday of May last year.
The second time it was not good at all. Surly, indifferent service coupled with average food and a bizarre incident with a waitor claiming that 3 scoops of ice cream was creme brulee.

Don't think I'll be going back....

Oh I think it's very good, possibly our favourite restaurant in CP.
OK so the staff have the odd off day but show me a Thai/Chinese that doesn't.
The food has always been good and offers the only decent prawn crackers in the area. A little more pricey so we alternate between there and the little Indian 50m away that doesn't look much but is always good value.

I had the hot seafood dish (can't remember name) - very good.

Ate in here for the first time last night and really enjoyed it. They did press us to order a lot more food than we needed, but we resisted. Huge vegetarian selection. They nearly set fire to the parasols on the ceiling though. A waiter set fire to some alcohol on a dish and the flames shot up about 4 feet!

I have found my last two trips to Tamnag very frustrating - the service is very slow because they overbook and there also now seems to be 'sittings'. However, the food is nothing to complain about, it definitely has the edge on the other Thai restaurants and the menu is very extensive and not run of the mill Thai fare.

Had a splendid meal in here last Bank Hol sunday, but the sullen, unsmiling service leaves a sour taste.

Yeah this has been my problem. Food has been fine but the indifferent, discourteous service has made me not bother to go back.

When you can eat as good, if not better Thai food in South-East and Chang Thai, I really don't think there's any excuse for the surly service and mediocre food at Tamnag. It's overrated and overpriced, and I won't be bothering in future.

One of my two favourite Thai restaurants in London (the other being Patara on Maddox St) is the Amaranth on Garratt Lane in Earlsfield- it's a b-y-o Thai canteen, the food is amazing, and it is unbelievably cheap. On top of which, the staff are smiley, courteous and charming!

i dont think the food is awful atall - but the problem lies in the fact its become a victim of its own success... They are obviously worked quite hard and its always really busy... maybe more staff and an extension to their kitchens could see the way forward to some more positive remarks on here...

I gotta say I agree with Rocky - a secret of there own success?? I am not sure about that, a smile costs nothing and staff walking around with faces liked a smacked bum is frankly not on at any price especially there's - if they want to be a bit quieter they are going the right way about it i'd say.

Never felt the need to go to Tamnag - there is only one Thai restaurant for me in the Palace and that is South East - lovely food and always fantastic service with a smile.
