One passing weirdo does not a dodgy pub make.

I really like the Alma now and it's friendly and cleaned up in the main. When I am in the there I wander round and talk to strangers and say things like "you should never look a badger in the eye I tell thee" and drink strangers beer and eat their crisps.

Btw Sunray - I really like the Half Moon aswell. A fine pub.

Hi Sunray

I'm really sorry to hear about your negative experience last Saturday. I just spoke to my brother who kicked out the unpleasant guy you mentioned.

He told me the guy in question was not served at The Alma and he had not seen him before. He was kicked out 3 times that evening and kept sneaking back in before my brother lost his temper the last time and he stayed out. I can assure you he will not be allowed back in!

As for the 'herbal cigarettes', when we took over the pub 18 months ago, we did have a problem with people smoking them in the garden. We had to get tough and bar a number of locals. We still have a zero tolerance stance for people caught taking drugs on the premises. Nobody smokes anything illegal at The Alma now. I can't be so sure that they don't do it at home, but I would hope the proportion would not be higher than anywhere else.

I do hope you give us another chance - we had a really good jazz quintet playing on that Saturday night which went down very well with the crowd by all accounts.

Thanks for bringing your concerns to my attention and rest assured: we'd much rather make The Alma a place in which you'd feel comfortable than the creepy touchy-feely man ;)
