No cheery seafood when I was last in there.

I find free bar snacks a bit intimidating. I find Scotch Eggs terrifying, the larger they are the more terrifying they are.

Although somebody did once try and sell me some bacon in the royal albert. I must add it was somebody passing through. I don't think they even purchased a beverage. And I certainly did not procure any unsmoked from them.

I like this pub. The service is always excellent when the two French guys are on duty - they seem to be constantly on the go! But alas the same can't be said when the other staff are behind the bar - particularly the guvnor - when everything and anything else seems to be more important than the people waiting to be served.

Does anyone know if this or other pubs around the triangle will be open on Xmas day? I fancy a pub lunch this year.

I asked the same thing last year and apparently it does do lunch on Xmas day & should be taking bookings now.

I think the Albert option was pretty dear last year. The White Hart are taking booking, and have been reasonably priced for the last few years.

I shall investigate both options and will report back.

the dec's not as nice as it was a few years back but still ok.the landlord [bernie] can be a bit slow to serve, but he is friendly and remembers your name and the sunday roast is good.all in all a friendly pub.

I still like the Albert. It won't appeal to the aspirational just moved up to the Palace cos we couldn't afford East Dulwich punters but it's a solid local with a very pleasant beer garden in these sunny times.

Indeed! Nothing wrong with the Albert at all -- friendly staff and a better roast than any of the other pubs in the area, for much less money!

With the Alma about to potentially turn into a gastropub with blackboard specials and the hollybush rumoured to be crawling in the same direction, its good to have the Albert on hand as a down-to-earth pub.

Possibly the last one left standing properly on the triangle? The G&G is of course a fine pub but it is a recent addition.

lovebirds?

The Lovebirds were probably the best band at the overground festival.
Haven't heard them in a pub, though.

Seems to be much more busy since the Hollybush and Alma have closed.
