Got a takeout from the Spice last Friday. good as ever. Always nice to have a chat and swift half with Manik, too. It was a bit quiet in there, Manik thought it had to do with the weather. Certainly the pubs seemed to be doing a roaring trade.

Extra hot vindaloo on Friday night from the Spice was a welcome accompaniment to trying to watch the Quadrophenia documentary on BBC4 while trying to get a 2 week old baby to go to sleep.

Had a fine meal in the Spice last night with a mate. Quality service and food and a free Bangla chucked in for good measure. You can't be knocking the Spice. It's a Palace Institution.

The Market Porter is a fine pub although it's often full of officers of the law in plain clothes I am told.

Yes see you in the Bell no doubt before too long. I may pass by the Spice on Christmas Eve if I get a chance.

Met up with a couple of friends last night in the Lavender Hill Palace Spice. Managed to drop the 'D' word and got ourselves two complementary shorts!

This place is next on my hit list. I have a faint memory and having some excellent food in here a few years ago - not sure why I haven't been back.

It's a good basic, high street Indian - we prefer CP Tandoori or Neo India though (and of course the short lived but very, very fine Rose Villa!).

Agreed - it aint bad at all - I did eat 4 or 5 before deciding to try somewhere else! Sadly just not reaching the high standards it once did.

short lived should give you a clue ! Palace spice is the oldest curry restaurant in CP by a country mile & owned by the same family !

Manik will be spicing up the restaurant this year !
