It was Uncle Wilf's birthday yesterday and Mrs Uncle Wilf kindly organised a surpsie gathering with some friends with food from the best curry shop in this corner of London i.e. Palace Spice.
As we're regular's they slipped in 2 bottles of decent wine for free. And the food was very, very good. :) :) :)

This place does warm the cockles of my heart.

We've not been in for awhile but the last 2 deliveries we had were poor. Do you think that they skimp on these and reserve the good stuff for the restaurant?

I don't know. Never had a bad takeaway from there - you must have just been unlucky.

Next you'll be saying you had a bad beer in the Cambridge.....

I must have been unlucky the last three times I've ordered from there then. I've since given up with Palace Spice and mainly order from Shelina or, erm, that one in Dulwich with Rose in the title

Ged, you should use Passage to India, they are on Gipsy Road so v.close to our street. They have some ammmmaaaaaazzzzing specials. I consider myself quite a curry officianado and I really rate their takeaway menu, plus as they are close its always pretty quick. never eaten in the restaurant though....but if its half as good.....

Had a takeaway from Palace Spice on Saturday night.... Unfortunately every dish was absolutely swimming in fat, I felt as though I'd eaten my own body weight in lard by the end of the meal.

Give me the fabulous Gurkha Cottage any day of the week.

I think Palace Spice keeps it's good food for Uncle Wilf and feeds the rest of us poor curries :)

Thanks for the tip Milou. In the name of research I had to try out the Passage to India at the weekend and it was very tasty.

Special treatment is well deserved as a regular.

It's starting to feel a bit like my front room.........

Cheers Dazza, I'll forgive you! :P

I think I'll go for a sit down next time and give it another try - although I think Gurkha will always be no. 1 in my heart....

The chana masala was tasty though, I must admit....

Firstly, I'd like to say hi to everyone on the boards, especially James, I also thank him for creating this local community, it's ace! and just want everyone to know I'll be around more often - checking out the boards, replying to posts, and lending a hand on things I'm good at. I don't know if I'm the youngest one here, I'm 14, but who knows? :-)

Ok, moving on swiftly, my experiences eating at Palace Spice.
I've ordered take-aways from Palace Spice several times from home, and invited friends from school around for some grub, and we've travelled up there and eaten inside.

The service we recieved was excellent, fast, reliable and simple. Moving onto the food quality, we did enjoy our meals, and after we left, we actually thought to ourselfs "What a nice meal, we should eat there more often". So, we did. We've visited more times now, and are starting to become regulars, which is great,

That's my basic low-down of Palace Spice,

Recommended to anyone wanting a quality priced meal, at a quality priced alternative.

Hi David. Welcome to Virtual Norwood and look forward to reading your contributions on the forum.

Not been to Palace Spice as my other half doesn't like Indian food, worse luck for me :( !
