Has anyone ordered a takeaway from Palace Spice recently? Until recently I thought Palace Spice was very good, but the last time I ordered from them I couldn't finish my Bhuna! Has anyone else noticed a degredation in the quality of their food or was this just a one-off bad experience?

We eat here usually once a week, and have never had a bad meal. Some other forum members have said in the past however, that some of the food there tasted like soap! :D

I posted about this place before the boards crashed, praising it to the heavens, but we've had a couple of inexplicably iffy takeaways from there since then which have put me off a bit - hard rice, odd-tasting sauces, and prawns that had the texture of shredded elastic bands.

Glad it's not me going mad then. I thought I was imagining things :)

The korma sauce looked like half a bottle of baileys poured into a cup of oil. Didn't taste much better either.

Maybe they get a rent-a-chef in when the regular is off?

I'll have to try them again some time. Just for research purposes of course.

Hmm - funny. I had a curry there on Friday night and there was nothing out of the ordinary. I have been going to Palace Spice for four years and have to say that it is one of the best curry houses in South London (apart from Jomuna in South Norwood). Very rarely have a bad meal there. Usually have the veggie thali or the prawn biryani and both are delicious.

Well, certainly every meal I've had in the restaurant has been great; it's only been the takeaways that have been less impressive.

Whilst Gurka Cottage is a superb restaurant, for some reason this little establishment has the edge.

You are well looked after and the old geezer's got a twinkle in his eye.

We were in here last night (again), and as alwys the food was superb. It's worries us slightly though that they always say, "Nice to see you again Sir and Madam", and they wave to us when we walk past!

We're obviously in there waaaaay too often :D :D

You only need to worry when you find yourself sending them a postcard when you go on holiday.

They gave us a Christmas present we are in there so often! Usually every Friday or at least every other Friday! The postcard idea is a good one!
