I think the food in here is excellent and the service pretty good too. It's quite a large place so the atmosphere can be quite cold if there aren't many in. The pasta dishes are much more imaginative than you get in other Italian restaurants although this probably means they are less authentic.

If you are looking for pasta at a good price, go to Lorenzos as it's great value. However, if you want something a bit more special then Il Ponte is a good bet.

Have to say I was surprised at that review, we've been here twice, and the food and service were very good.

Yes, I can only think you went on a bad day Molevision. I've been about three or four times now (last time was Wed of last week) and I've always thought the food was great and the service, very attentive.

What was it about the food and service that were terrible?

:D :D I've been going to Il Ponte/Ferraris since it opened and find the quality of the service and food varies from average to very good. They do consistently good steaks and usually the plats de jour are imaginative and very tasty. We often go for a starter and pizza early sunday evenings and have found the service to be very good - nice wines aswell at reasonable prices. Other times we have been with friends later in the evening on a week day and have found the service terribly slow.
Overall I would give the restaurant a rating of good - it beats Lorenzos hands down. :P

Went here on Saturday and the pizzas were very good. Service was a bit haphazard though. I'll definitely return nonetheless.

I've been there a few times now, mainly because my boyfriend has a thing for Calzone and we can't find it in any of the other Italian restaurants in CP.
I've found it pretty mediocre so far. I've had a fairly average mushroom risotto, a pasta dish which was meant to contain chicken but seemed to only contain chicken dust, and a way-too-oily swordfish (again, swordfish crumbs) pasta thing.
We also had an issue in there once because we asked to be sat in a different area (the restaurant was almost empty except for one corner which was filled with two families with screaming, running kids). As a consequence of this the Waitress took our order and served the rest of our meal without making eye contact a la a sulky teenager. I was tempted to trip her up.
The free olives are a plus though.

Yes I think the service is very mixed to say the least which is a shame because the food is usually pretty good. What lets it down I think is some very high prices and some indifferent and uninterested waiting staff.

It wouldn't be my first choice of restaurant on the triangle - their menu hasn't changed in years and I've had all the veggies about 5 times now. But, I think it's good vfm and have always found the service to be good. They really need to stop playing that 'Happy Birthday' music so often though...

Il Ponte - great food diabolical service. The Pizza's aren't that great though.
You always end up waiting ages to get the bill even when the place is empty. I like the funny fairground mirrors next to the toilets.
