A Royal Commission was set up to manage the original Great Exhibition, whose building was moved to Crystal Palace. The Exhibition actually made a profit, something the later rebuild struggled to ever manage. This is an unusual Royal Commission as it survives to this date as a Charitable organisation handing out research fellowships. With assets of 60 million, it continues to this date.
