Good luck Charlie. I'll be there in spirit. But sadly I won't be breaking my boycott of The Albert. Wasn't there a local group (UNIT?) that fought plans to demolish the Triangle in the 70's?

Charlie: under item 3, could you add Westow Hill conservation area (Lambeth) which is also "at risk", and Crystal Palace conservation area (Bromley) which apparently is not.

Apologies I am still abroad so unable to come along but will ask if anyone in the centre wishes to attend. I am pleased, at last that there is going to be a dedicated triangle planning action group - if needs be there should be a rep, from this group, on the north area conservation panel as well. However, the CPCA used to be CPTCA crystal palace triangle community association constituted to deal with conservation matters however they have widened their remit so they can include further into Lambeth and Croydon - I often wondered when i saw such desecrations to the triangle shopfronts - what is the Norwood Society or Triangle association doing about this? Good to see that there is going to be a dedicated group set up once again - we need to conserve our heritage before the planners allow it to be taken from us - please could you add 24 Westow Hill to the agenda as well - this is a blatant breach - I have been watching this shopfront since feb 08 and followed it through - strictly speaking enforcement action should have been taken before now however the applicant has been allowed another stab at the planning appeal. take a look. Peter Woods or mike Kiely at Croydon will up date you on this one.

Hi Charlie,

Please see below the FOI request letter that I have written to LDA. I would like to join the group much as for the reason as I am writing below. I have spent 15 years in economic development and urban regeneration currently specialising in learning and skills. I have recently left the LDA after 6 years as a Senior Manager.

I am now Director for Work and Learning Services at St. Mungo's London's largest Homnelessness organisation. I am keen to be able to offer any support that I can to your efforts in supporting Palace through the downturn and to help identify leverage with local and regional planning authorities. I grew up in Croydon and have close ties with the area.

Kind regards

Phil

P.S. I will register with virtaul Norwood but e-mail address phildemont@gmail.com

Dear London Development Agency (P.L.U. team)

I am requesting information under the FOI Act as regards to LDA role in identifying an alternative site for the Kingsway Christian Centre at Crystal Palace. The LDA has identified the area as a priority in the London Plan and needs to be helping support cross borough co-ordination in ensuring that this historic area thrives under its master planning role for the park and environs under the GLA act. Under FOI I would like to identify whether the LDA has identified the Gala bingo centre as part of its role in the olympic site to find alternative suitable sites for re-location.

Also, as part of its role in ensuring that the masterplan for Crystal Palace Park and environs will it use its leverage to ensure that the change of use from entertainment is not granted by Bromley Council to place of worships (where no economic returns are likely to be realised) and in response to previous interest the cinema venture is realised which will underpin the economic and social infrastructure of the area at a time of recession where the viability of the shopping and entertainment offer is at risk. I would also like to know what the LDA proposes to do to work with the Chamber of Commerce to ensure that opportunity is realised in restoring the gala bingo to its former use as a cinema in keeping with previous consultations.

Yours sincerely.

At the meeting last night we briefly discussed an online presence where people could go to pick up the latest news and advice on the KICC/cinema situation without having to read through loads of forum posts.

I've registered www.picture-palace.org and put up a few web pages. As you can see, I'm not a web designer and just borrowed the cinema poster and colours for continuity. Anyone who wants to take over the web design can contact me by pm - I assure you I will be pathetically grateful rather than offended.

Should I start a new thread for discussions about content, or should we perhaps keep the discussions private?

Just a quick note to say a SPECIAL THANK YOU to everyone who attended the first meeting of the Crystal Palace Triangle Planning Group. There was an excellent turn out of residents, local traders, cllrs Bennett and Ryan and other interested parties.

The discussion was considered, informative and very constructive. The obvious focus of the meeting was the GALA bingo hall, 25 Church Road and as it turned out we had a single item agenda to get the ball rolling.

We have an agreed set of actions which I will set out in the minutes and distribute to attendees by the end of the week.

We will update the VN forum before the next meeting when we have an agreed protocol.

What has occured to me is that we have two parallel activities/groups emerging- one the Planning Group and secondly and essentially the informal formation of a Picture-Palace Campaign Group. Name to be agreed?

We should review this when we meet next wednesday 1 July 7pm at the Royal Albert.

Phoenix - we will add no. 24 westow hill to the planning group agenda and we will be reviewing planning applications and breaches over the coming week.

Cathyh/Phil - we look forward to meeting you at the next meeting and I'll contact you under separate cover.

Nick - great start on the website -we need to think how we can use this to maximum benefit. I think we should start a new thread to discuss content.

That's all for now.

Just to let everyone know that tonight was the 2nd meeting of the Crystal Palace Triangle Planning Group(CPTPG)- 7pm Royal Albert. The aim of the group is to highlight and fight against inappropriate development in the triangle and at the last meeting (which was a single agenda item) we agreed that we would oppose a change of use to a church application should this come forward; that we would support its existing use D2 ( there are,kt any other D2 venues in the triangle of this significance) and hopefully a cinema to come back to the site and that we would generate publicity for our cause. We also agreed to a campaign in support of a cinema with a campaign website www.picture-palace.org. We already have a number of initiatives regarding 25 Church Road and ofcourse we are aware that as yet no planning application has come forward. We will have to take an objective and impartial view as and when one does. And we will ensure the issues are debated and looked at very thoroughly. A further objective of the group is to use VN has a consultative group/stakeholder and to use VN to gauage opinion and to inform a wider audience of the issues and applications coming forward just as we have on the issue of 69-69a Westow Street. It is still early days but we believe we can make this group a real success and be of real benefit to the local community. We are looking for people to become members of the CPTPG and to register their support for the Picture Palace Campaign. It would be great to see some fresh blood giving something to the community. Please do come along tonight even if it is just to check us out.

Some of you did come along tonight - thank you - it was a very productive meeting.
The date of the next meeting is wednesday 15 July - 7pm - venue to be confirmed.

For those that want to keep up with the latest updates regarding the campaign - please resister at www.picture-palace.org.

We are also looking for more legal and planning professionals to join.

If you are not able to join the planning group CPTPG but can offer assistance behind the scenes then please pm me.

BREAKING NEWS from the Crystal Palace Triangle Planning Group:

Fact not rumour:

Good morning,

Thank you for your email regarding the above site.

We are aware that the site has been sold and that it has been bought by a church organisation. As yet a planning application for the site has not been received.

Agents acting for the church have been in touch with this office and advised that a planning application for the use of the building as a church will be submitted in approximately three weeks time. The owners have been made aware that the commencement of the use prior to the grant of planning permission would be at their own risk.

Upon receipt and validation of the application consultation letters will be sent out to give local residents to give the opportunity to comment on the application. I propose to include you on that consultation list. To do so please could you supply your address so that I can send you a formal letter which will give details of the application and consultation process.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

Karen Bradshaw

Planning Officer

We are looking for as many people as possible to join the cinema campaign group so please register at www.picture-palace.org for updates.
